Yin Yoga Classes
This 90-minute class will give an intro to pranayama breathing techniques and end with a 20 minute guided relaxation, but the main bulk of the class will be on postures, the physical aspect of Yoga known as Asana in Sanskrit. Whoever you are in life shows up on the Yoga mat, so you also get to learn more about who you are and what’s important to you.
Yin is a wonderful accompaniment to other styles of yoga and your own personal life because we hold postures for longer periods of time which consequently can bring up and stir emotions or feelings held cellularly in the body. It is so important that if you feel you have had enough of a posture and you need to come out of it that you do. As an intuitive practise Yoga enables you to become more in touch with your physical and mental self.
When holding postures in Yin Yoga with a primary focus on the breath you are put into a position where you have to just “be” and to “accept what is” in that given moment. Something we can all benefit from daily. Anyone struggling with feelings of frustration and irritation from the Covid-19 lockdown benefit enormously from Yin classes particularly if your usual Yoga practise has been primarily a Vinyasa Flow practise without the focus of Pranayama and Nidra combined and unfamiliarity or dislike of meditation
The nature of Yin will also assist you if you are keen to meditate or struggle to be still during an existing meditation practise.
